Have you ever wondered what more you can do to support your foreign language students?
I know I have.
During the pandemic we all realised we needed to offer emotional support not just language instructions. Preparing students for jobs interviews, in my classroom, means explaining what team work is, what qualities leadership includes, how to listen actively, to name just a few. So, when I first listened to Palmina La Rosa at the IATEFL in Belfast in 2022 I found the answer to my question – coaching! And that is what this project is about.
Our toolkit will include teaching and training materials to equip educators with coaching techniques to enhance their students’ competences. These innovative materials will empower teachers and encourage adult learners to engage and participate more while improving their skills such as entrepreneurship, problem-solving and collaboration. Also, the coaching techniques used in our materials for teachers, go beyond academic achievement and focus on nurturing leadership qualities in students and these qualities empower students in playing proactive roles in their communities and enhance their professional opportunities and employability.
